Superbounce Table Tennis Club Successful HostsOpen House & “Wang Zhen Masterclass” Event in Calgary

【CMHnews Post】On November 14, the Superbounce Table Tennis Club held its Open House and “Wang Zhen Masterclass” event in Calgary. The event drew an enthusiastic crowd of more than one hundred attendees, including representatives from the Chinese Consulate-General in Calgary, leaders of local Chinese associations and multicultural community organizations, young players, families, and table tennis enthusiasts. Coinciding with the 55th anniversary of China–Canada diplomatic relations, the event carried even greater symbolic significance, highlighting the role of sports in fostering cultural exchange and community connection.

The event began with welcoming remarks from Sandy Han, founder of Superbounce. She introduced the club’s mission, its development process, program design, and long-term vision. Han noted that although Calgary has a strong sports culture, professional table tennis facilities remain limited. Superbounce aims to fill this gap by providing a high-standard, community-oriented, and family-friendly space dedicated to the sport. Sandy also shared the story behind the club’s logo, inspired by Calgary’s iconic Peace Bridge. The design represents connection, inclusiveness, and community spirit—values Superbounce hopes to embody as a cultural “bridge” that brings people together through sport. Another major milestone for the club this year was also announced: Superbounce has been the exclusive apparel sponsor for Team Alberta in the 2025 Canadian Table Tennis Championships team event. This partnership reflects industry recognition of the club’s professionalism and marks Superbounce’s entry into a broader stage within Canada’s competitive table tennis landscape.

Occupying more than 9,000 square feet, Superbounce features 18 professional tables, professional flooring, full-facility LED lighting, a youth training zone, and a comfortable reception area. Positioned as a future “table tennis cultural landmark” for Calgary, the club aims to become one of Canada’s most professional, open, and culturally vibrant table tennis centers. Plans include a full youth training system, adult programs, private coaching, and international exchange opportunities—all designed to promote the sport across the city.

A major highlight of the day was the live demonstration by Wang Zhen, four-time Olympian and former main player of the Canadian men’s national team. Beyond his international achievements, Wang is known for promoting “ping-pong diplomacy” across provinces in Canada. His masterclass focused on serve-and-receive techniques, rhythm control, fundamental tactics, and hands-on coaching for both youth and adult players. Notably, Wang’s masterclass program has officially launched at the club, with both one-on-one and group training options now available.

Many families expressed excitement that Superbounce provides young players with a more professional, energetic, and inspiring training environment, contributing to the growing table tennis culture in Calgary.

Audiences were impressed by the club’s professionalism and its strong commitment to community engagement. From its facility standards to its coaching team and future plans, Superbounce is clearly positioned to drive the growth of table tennis in Calgary and to create meaningful cultural connections between Chinese and Canadian communities.

Looking ahead, Superbounce is expected to bring more high-quality programs, competitions, and community events to Calgary—building a signature space where sports and culture come together.
