Who says heavy machinery can’t have finesse?

Updated: 1 day ago

【CMHnew Post】Earlier this month, we visited XCMG on behalf of Chinese-language media in Canada, where we toured their newest generation of heavy equipment and watched a live engineering machinery stunt performance in Xuzhou, China.

As one of China’s leading names in heavy industry, XCMG has been pushing the boundaries of large-scale equipment manufacturing since 1989, filling major technological gaps and becoming a cornerstone of China’s industrial sector. Its truck cranes, tower cranes, and aerial work platforms now rank among the top in the world.

What stood out most, however, was how the company has given these giant steel machines an unexpectedly playful and cute side in the post-industrial era. Excavators normally used for construction and mining were transformed into surprisingly delicate performers under the hands of skilled operators — shooting basketballs with precision, writing Chinese calligraphy with steady strokes, and moving with remarkable control and elegance.

Watching multi-ton mechanical arms operate with such accuracy and fluidity felt like seeing a new side of heavy industry altogether — one that is not only powerful, but creative, lively, and deeply fascinating.
